Eugene Bernard Jackson, Sr., 51, of Newberry, entered the sunset of life on Monday, November 18, 2024 at UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville.  The son of Freddie Lee Jackson, Sr. and Ella Donerson Whetstone, he was born on Sunday, December 10, 1972 in Palatka. He was educated in the Putnam and Alachua County School Districts. Gene was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed playing video games and listening to music.

Gene was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Freddie Lee Jackson, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Jackson; maternal grandparents, James and Dora Bell Donerson; aunt, Elizabeth "Liz" Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Ella Donerson Whetstone; son and daughters, Eugene Bernard Jackson, Jr., Jalisha Jackson, and Sunday Hunter; grandchildren, Trevious and Trevyn Woods, MacKenzie Thomas,  Kmari and Orian Jackson, Ma'Kayla and Malaysia Hunter; brothers, Frankie Lee Whetstone, Jr., Tyrone Christopher Whetstone, Sr., all of Gainesville; Frankie Lee Bolling, Palatka; sisters, Sharline Parker, Gainesville; LaRhonda Bolling King, LaToya Gilyard, both of Palatka; aunt & uncles, James Donerson, Patricia Ann Donerson Deering, both of Palatka; Tommy Donerson, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative & friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 29; Celebration of Eugene's Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 30 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison St, Palatka. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
