Obituary

Ethel L. Lowe, 91, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Kindred Hospital-North Florida, Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. A native of Perry, Florida, she was born on Friday, December 3, 1920 to O. B. "Jettie" and Queen Esther Merritt. Ethel was baptized at an early age at New Brooklyn Baptist Church in Perry. She was a graduate of Jenkins High School (Taylor County School System) in Perry. Ethel united in holy matrimony to Benjamin F. Lowe on July 18, 1942 and they resided in Palatka since 1946. She has been a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a retired homemaker who enjoyed family cook-outs and attending high school and college football games. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Aldrena Pearl Isom-Hunter; stepdaughters, Veronica Jackson and Annie Frank Collins; and granddaughter, LaCherrel K. Fenderson. Those who cherish her legacy of love: husband of 69 years, Benjamin F. Lowe, Palatka; Daughter, Erma Brown, St. Augustine; Stepdaughter, Glenda (Samuel) Braswell, Daytona Beach; Stepson, Bobby Lowe, Orlando; Sisters, Esther Mount, Ocala; Deloris (Jim) Lewis and Evelyn Gant, both of Jacksonville; Brother-in-law, Curitus Lowe, Palatka; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 18th at the "Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 North 10th Street, Palatka. The Reverend Frederick T. Demps, Pastor, is the eulogist. The cortege will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lowe's 518 Bronson Street residence in Palatka. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
