Ethel Louise Clark House, 93, of Gainesville, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Kiva of Palatka following a brief illness. She was a native of Tampa, born on Sunday, November 14, 1920 to Fred Clark and Bertha Hallman Chatman. She was educated in the Alachua County Public School District, where she excelled in all of her studies. She was of the Methodist faith and attended the C.M.E. Church of Gainesville. Ethel resided in New York City for 50 years and was a retired fashion designer at Bonwit Teller Department Store and subsequently relocated to Gainesville. She has been a Kiva resident for the past 12 years and was affectionately known as "Mommy House" for her love and affection shown towards all she encountered. She was always willing and passionate about helping people in need and often exhibited love and kindness to all. "Mommy House" enjoyed singing and praising God with the ministers and churches who visited Kiva. She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents and her husband U.S. Army Sgt. Mack House (1905-1976). She leaves to cherish her precious memories: loving and devoted cousin/caregiver, Missionary L. Annette Young, Jacksonville; and a host of other relatives and caring friends, especially her KIVA family. Visitation of family and friends will be Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9 a.m. until time of services. Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Interment will be 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 5 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Friends may sign the House family guest book at www.flaggserenitychapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel, 2400 Madison Street, Palatka.
