Essie Mae "Nannie" Bryant, 93, longtime resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. The daughter of Henry and Rosetta (Williams) Studymine, she was born on Tuesday, May 29, 1923 in Monticello. She was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. Affectionately known by her close family and close friends as "Nannie," she was a retired homemaker. In her early years, she was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Essie was united in holy matrimony to Raymond Bryant, Sr. "Nannie" loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all, especially her beloved children.
In addition to her parents and husband, Essie was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Raymond "Gator" Bryant, Jr., sisters, Eather Wheeler, Elena Hopkins Hough; brother, Edward Studymine; grandson, Calvester Evins; great-grandson, Darryl Bryant, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughters, Rosa Patricia Bryant, Rachel Bryant Lee, and Judy (David) Fuce; daughter-in-law, Celestine "Lisa" Bryant; 11 grandchildren, Carolyn (Oliver) Brown, Anita (John) McCullough, Telisha Evins, Shonda (Clarence) Givens, Wilma (Louis) Williams, Marsha Bryant, Keneshia Bryant, Richard Evins, Tracy (Kenyatta) Evins, Darryl Bryant, Sr., Raymond Bryant, III; 21 great-grandchildren, including devoted great-granddaughter, LaKeysha Horner;1 great-great-granddaughter; devoted niece, Rosa Hopkins Williams; devoted nephews, Algie Scott, Bobbie Hopkins Hough, Wilbert (Anglea) Hough, Tondrick Hough; "like daughters," Dorotheia Lewis and Gloria Bennett; adopted granddaughter, Tamara McGee; and a host of other relatives and friends, especially devoted lifelong friend, Lucy Hutcherson.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, November 11 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 12 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 719 Reid Street, Palatka, Reverend James McGriff, pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
