Obituary

Emma Pearl Kelsey, 92, Palm Coast (former Jacksonville resident) entered the sunset of life on Thursday, December 25th, 2008, at Hospice of Volusia / Flagler, in Orange City. A native of Lawtey, she was the daughter of Earnest (Amelia Hawkins) Mays, born August 25, 1916. She was raised in Jacksonville and educated in the Duval County Public School system. She moved to New York City and was employed as a licensed nurse at the V. A. Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital for over 30 years. Upon returning to Jacksonville, she was an active member of St. Stephen A.M.E. Church and was employed by the FL Dept of Health. For the past 7 years she enjoyed residing with her family in Palm Coast until the Lord called her home. She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents Ernest Mays & Amelia Hazel West preceded her in eternal rest. To Cherish Her Memories, Daughter, Gloria Dean (Harry) Moseley, Palm coast Sisters, Dorothy Warren & Susie Finnie, both of Jacksonville; 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and caring friends. Homegoing Celebration will be on Thursday, January 1st, 11 am at the Chapel of Serenity 2400 Madison St., Palatka, Rev. Constance Young, St. Stephen A.M.E. Church, is the Eulogist.
