Obituary

Deacon Elmer Hubbert, 80, of San Mateo, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Lakewood Nursing Center, Crescent City following an extended illness. He was a native of Alapaha, GA., born November 18, 1928 to A. C. and Charlie Mae (Brown) Hubbert. He has been a resident of Putnam County (San Mateo) since the 70s, moving from Flagler County (Bunnell). Elmer was a member and a Deacon of 2nd Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, San Mateo and a former member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Bunnell. Following 47 years of employment as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Mr.Hubbert retired from ITT-Rayonier, Bunnell. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and carpentry work.

Elmer is preceded in eternal rest by his parents and brothers, Leroy, Alvin, and Esten Hubbert; sisters, Thelma and Willie Mae Hubbert.

Ronnie (Anna) Hubbert, Woodridge, VA; Sgt., Reginald (Lena) Hubbert, Winter Springs, FL; Jeffrey Hubbert, Willingboro, NJ; Cecil Hubbert, Orlando; Step-Daughters, Crystal Scott; Ahbiya Young, both of San Mateo, Ollie Mae (Gerald) Lewis, Satsuma; Step-Sons, Terell Young, San Mateo; Alonzo (Tonya Kennell) Wiggs, Palatka; James (Tisha) Mauesby, Jacksonville; Arthur Chip Young, St. Augustine; Sister, Ruthie Mae Reeves, Bunnell; 48 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family & friends will be (today) Friday, July 10th from 4-7pm at the Chapel of Serenity. Saturdays visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 609 S. State Street, Bunnell, Rev. Patrick A. Wilkerson, Pastor. Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Wayne C. Williams, pastor of 2nd Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, San Mateo is the eulogist. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Palm Coast.
