Ellen Ruth Isreal "Lil Pig" Medlock, 67, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Orange Park Medical Center. The daughter of Conley and Elouise (McGill) Isreal, she was a native of Mullins, SC., born on Saturday, February 11, 1950. Ellen was a 1969 graduate of Central Academy High School. During her high school years, she was a well-known majorette who earned respect for her beauty and fashion. She was united in holy matrimony to Rickey Medlock, Sr., on December 20, 1994. Ellen was a 30+ year employee with the U.S. Department of Defense (Defense Intelligence Agency), retiring in 2006. She was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Mandarin, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Gary L. Williams, Sr. She served faithfully on the "Feed the Need" ministry, Outreach ministry, and with the Wiggins Family Group. She enjoyed travelling and sightseeing, while listening to her gospel music station. Ellen was most noted for her soft, sweet spirit and for the love she exhibited to everyone, especially her husband.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in eternal rest by her brother, Anthony "Tootie Boy" Isreal and several aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted husband of 22 years, Rickey J. Medlock, Sr., Orange Park; stepsons, Rickey (Mary) Medlock, Jr., Marcus (LaToya) Medlock, both of Palatka; 6 grandchildren, Anita Griner, Jaylon Myles, Rickasia Medlock, Rihanna Medlock, Tamiya Medlock, and Markim Medlock; 1 great-granddaughter, Desiree Brown; brothers, Johnny Lee Isreal, Los Angeles, CA; Connie Ray Isreal, Arthur Isreal, both of Palatka; sister, Barbara Harris, Washington, D.C.; aunts, Kathleen Reaves, Mullins, SC; Malvoria Reaves, Hollister; godmother, Apostle Cora B. Fells; brothers-in-law, Donald (Bobbie Jean) Baker, Clarkie Medlock, Cedric Walker, Sr., all of Palatka; Randy Hills, Sr., East Palatka; sisters-in-law, Patricia Varnes, Hastings, Earnestine Peggy Green, LaJune (Minister Alfred) Esau, both of East Palatka; Shirley (Danny) Crooms, Tara (Leon) Crosland, both of Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 14 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 15, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Ellen's godmother, Apostle Dr. Cora B. Fells, Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, is the eulogist.
