Elizabeth Ann "Barbara" Kaphers Williams, 77, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, Palatka. The daughter of Ollie and Minnie Mae (Long) Kaphers, she was born on Monday, April 16, 1945 in Trenton, Florida. Elizabeth was affectionately known to her family as "Barbara" and to her husband as "Bebop". "Barbara" was raised in St. Augustine, and was a 1963 graduate of R.J. Murray High School. She attended Collier Blocker Junior College and St. Johns River Community College, as well as Humana Leadership Institute in Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach.
"Barbara" was a former member of Shiloh Baptist Church, St. Augustine under the leadership of Rev. J.A. Wright. She later joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Frederick T. Demps where she was a faithful member for over 50 years. Barbara's hobbies included baking pies and cakes, watching westerns on TV, and reading her Bible and the " Daily Word ". She was retired from Putnam Community Hospital, after 27 years of employment as an Environmental Services Supervisor. Elizabeth was loved by many family and friends, whom will miss her sweet smile and kindred heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her brothers, Caro Kaphers, Eddie Kaphers, Leonard Trapp; sisters, Annie Bell Reddick Tarver, Geraldine Kaphers: father-in-law, Sammie Lee "Mossie" Williams Sr.; brothers-in-law, Michael Williams, James Ruth and Jackie Vickers.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband of 53 years, Jackie Williams; sons, Arthur Williams, Palatka; Timothy Williams, McKinney, TX; Derrick ( Angela ) Williams, Palatka; grandchildren, Siquoya Williams, Emily Oxendine, Phillip Williams, Christopher Williams, Derrick "DJ" (Myra) Williams II, Derrick Williams III, Heaven Williams, Daisha Williams; mother-in-law, Annie Lee Williams; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, James (Lucille) Williams, Sammie Lee Williams Jr, Donald (Aronell) Williams, Clara Trapp, Mary Hayes, Pearlie Ruth, Goldie (Jimmy) Morris; godchildren, Latoya (Tommy) Robinson and JaLaysia Bartley, devoted nephew, Jerome Reddick; best friends, Edna Watson, Clara Moody and Barbara Jean Milton; "like a daughter" Camelia "Cooki" Chester; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, October 21 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Barbara's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 22 at Calvary's Family Life Center, 1414 Bronson Street, Palatka. Reverend Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
