Obituary

Eliza Jane Watts Reid, 70, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville. God blessed the late Joseph & Minnie (Jordan) Watts with a beautiful daughter named Eliza Jane on August 16, 1939 in Palatka. She received her early education in the Putnam County School District and concluded at George Washington Carver High School in Newport News, VA. In her early years, she was affiliated with St. Johns Church of God In Christ under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Samuel Green, Newport News, VA. Eliza is the mother of five beloved daughters. She was an independent caregiver for the elderly. Her favorite pastime included composing her own music, singing, playing the piano and organ, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family. She was a former member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ and recently attended St. Joseph Primitive Baptist Church where she served as church musician.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Rochelle M. Dumas; and Brothers, Eddie Watts, Elder Albert Watts Sr., and Willie Watts.

Her life and legacy is cherished by her Daughters, Claudia A. Williams, Orlando, FL, Valorie (Randy) Graham, Indianapolis, IN; Anita L. Watts, Judy A. Reid, and Melissa D. Reid, all of Palatka; Grandchildren, Tamika, Antonio, Antwon, Vonteria, Troy M., Tommy, Freddie, Monique, Tiyondra, Troy L., Shamiah, Tavarous, Richard, Richay, TyNeria, Genesha, Tamera, Antonio M., and Kalandra Williams (raised as a daughter); 8 great-grandchildren, 2 Brothers, Deacon Joe Watts Jr., and Earle Watts, both of Palatka; 3 devoted sisters, Missionary Alberta Mackifield, Indianapolis, IN; Rosa B. Lane, Palatka; and Catherine Ewing, Waco, Texas: Sisters-in-law, Aldine Watts, Palatka; and Doris Watts, Hollister; Special Friends, Teresa Knowles, Mother Janie Nixon, Francis Nicklow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, February 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity.

Homecoming Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 N. 9th Street, Palatka, Superintendent Johnny L. Shaw, pastor is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
