Elena Hopkins Aunt Koot Hough, 81, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 22, 2009. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, she was the daughter of Henry & Rosetta (Williams) Studymine, born February 22, 1928. Elena was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of Rhema Healing and Deliverance Ministry, East Palatka and formerly H.T. Christian Center. In her early years, she was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Elena was united in Holy Matrimony to John H. Hough. Aunt Koot loved to cook and attend family cookouts. Fishing and playing cards were among her favorite pastimes. Elena is preceded in eternal rest by her husband; parents; son, Wardell Peter Scott; Sister, Eather Wheeler; and Brother, Edward Studymine. Aunt Koot will be truly missed by all, especially her beloved children.
To Cherish Her Memories: Children, Rosa Hopkins (Carlton) Williams, Haymarket, VA; Algie Scott, Wilbert My-My (Angela) Hough, and Tondrick Hough, all of Palatka; Bobby Hopkins Hough, Jacksonville; Sister, Essie Bryant, Palatka; Granddaughter, Teryse Michelle Williams, Clinton, MD; Grandson, Carlton Williams II, Silver Springs, MD; Wilbert Hough, Jr., and Devinn Hough, both of Palatka; Great Grandchildren, Krishawn Rucker, Clinton, MD; Michaela Williams, Silver Springs, MD; and a host of devoted nieces and nephews, other relatives and her cherished cocker spaniel, Asia Hough.
Visitation will be Friday, June 26 from 5 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Rev. James McGriff, Pastor. Pastor Lorenzo T. Wright, Rhema Healing and Deliverance Ministries, East Palatka, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery. The cortege will assemble 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hough's residence, 912 Bronson St. Palatka.
