Obituary

Eleanor Brown Monts, 53, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Saturday afternoon, September 4, 2010, southeast of Tallahassee as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle traffic accident. The daughter of Roy Brown Sr. and Rebecca Murphy Brown, Eleanor was born March 15, 1957 in Crescent City. She was a lifelong resident of Crescent City and was educated in the Putnam County School District. After finishing High School, she continued her education at St. Johns River Community College earning an associates degree in accounting. Eleanor was member of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church of Seville, where she served as the church secretary. She also served as Union Secretary for the St. Johns River Baptist Association. She was the Putnam School District Route Coordinator for South Putnam Region and had been an employee for nearly 20 years. Eleanor always enjoyed listening to gospel music and travelling with her husband. She was a family organizer and event coordinator who also loved to shop and eat. Eleanor touched the hearts of countless with her beautiful smile and encouraging words or even lending her helping hand. Eleanor fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith.

Eleanor is preceded in eternal rest by her father, Roy Brown, Jr., sister, Martha Bess; father-in-law, Bobbie Lee Monts.

She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: Devoted Husband of 38 Years, Calvin Conwell Monts, Sr., Crescent City; Beloved Mother, Rebecca Murphy-Brown, Crescent City; Step-mother, Helen Nelson Brown, Crescent City; Mother-in-law, Gussie Mae Monts, Seville; Children, Tanjala (Sylvester) Gillon, Calvin Conwell Monts II, Bobbie Lee Monts, Derric Ojae Monts, Falicia LaShun Monts, all of Crescent City; Ashley Nicole Monts, Seville; Calvin (Amy) Martin, Palatka; Sisters, Evelyn (Edgar) McPherson, East Windsor, NJ; Yolanda Jackson, Odenton, MD; Naomi Brown, Savannah, GA.; Brothers, Roy Lee Brown, Boca Raton, FL., Ralph Earl Brown, Deltona; Anthony Brown, Edsel Charles Brown, both of Crescent City; Reginald Brown, Palatka; Tyrone Brown, Gainesville; 27 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren; Sisters-in-law, Mae Lois Freeman, Fayetteville, N.C. and Diane Brown, Daytona Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday (Today) September 10th at George C. Miller Jr. Intermediate School, 101 S. Prospect Street, Crescent City.

Homegoing services will be 10 am. Saturday, September 11th at Miller Intermediate School. Moderator, Reverend James E. Vickers, pastor of St. Johns Baptist Church, Seville is the Eulogist.

Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Seville.
