El Roi Ishmael Ashley, 30, of St. Augustine, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The son of Willie James Ashley, Jr. and Elaine Douglas Ashley, he was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine. He was a graduate of St. Augustine High School, Class of 2004. El Roi earned certification at American Academy of Cosmetology, Orange Park. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Augustine where he sang in the choir. El Roi was a very talented young man, who often exhibited his skills as an avid cook and gifted soloist. He was a cook and also a manager at Barley Republic Iris Pub. He recently started his own production company, Sta Fly Campaign, LLC. As a composer, his love for life was reflected through music. El Roi's smile would light up any room he entered. He was very strong-willed, and had a kind, loving heart. El Roi was an awesome father to his children.
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Emerie, Evanti, Ki'Mari, and Mekhila Ashley; mother, Elaine "Ms. Freddie" Ashley Johnson; siblings, Eboni (Robert, Jr.) Hollimon, Sheila (Asrial) Ashley Jenkins; Raymond (Tanga) Harris; all of St. Augustine; Chasity Moore, Passadena, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 10 at First Baptist Church, 89 Saint Francis Street, St. Augustine. Celebration of El Roi's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 11, at Lighthouse Church of God, 1230 Kings Estate Road, St. Augustine. Reverend Michael McConnell, Pastor of First Baptist Church of St. Augustine, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Craig Memorial Park, St. Augustine.
