"Mother" Effie Beatrice Wright, 81, of Palatka, transitioned into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her residence. A native of Fort Gaines, GA., she was born on Saturday, March 14, 1931 to Willie B. & Alice (West) Ervin and was educated in the Clay County, GA., public school system. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. "Mother" Wright was united in holy matrimony to Charlie C. Wright, Sr., on April 5, 1952 and subsequently they relocated to the Federal Point/Hastings area and they became the blessed parents of a son, Charlie Jr., and daughter Mary. She was a very active member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church until her declining health prevailed. She was a retired nursing assistant, employed at the former Gilmer's Nursing Home in St. Augustine. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Charlie C. Wright Jr.; brothers, Jimmie L. Harris and Henry King; "like-a-sister," Ernestine E. Ray; goddaughter, Anita Brown. To cherish her precious memories, devoted daughter, Mary A. Wright, Gainesville; loving grandsons (raised as sons), Jeffery Alvin and Justin Davis, both of Jacksonville; brother, Ben Ellis Jr., Ft. Gaines, GA; sister, Emanuel Davis, Ft. Gaines, GA; goddaughters, (raised as daughters), Carolyn R. Christian, Louise D. Chaney, Latashia (Leonard), Brown, all of Palatka; Linda R. Farquharson, Miami; Michelle Dewitt, Hastings; godson, Willie F. (Shandria), Riley, Daytona Beach; sisters-in- law, Anna Wright, Hastings; Florene Wright; Ruby Dean Wright, both of Ft. Gaines, GA, special friends, Willie M. Robinson (cousin), Celestine Felder, Denise Turner, Agnes Johnson, Mother Louise Ware, Adrienne Kilpatrick, Mrs. Carrie Miller; her Federal Point and Hastings Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1517 Washington Street, Palatka, Rev. Clarence Williams, pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in the Federal Point Cemetery.
