Obituary

Edwin "Roller" Crosby was born December 14, 1946 in Baxley, GA to Edwin L. & Lorabell (Moore) Crosby.  He attended Appling County \School in Baxley.  Edwin started construction work in his early years, leaving Baxley in 1968.  He moved to Rochester New York and lived with his sister, Annie but returned to Baxley in 1969 following the transition of Lavaugh, his sister. Once again he left Baxley to travel with a construction company and lived in New Haven, Connecticut, Chicago, and North Carolina.  In 1970, Edwin moved to Palatka and worked at Seaboard Railroad with his Uncle Henry.

He met his wife, Louvenia Wright and they were married on November 29, 1971, fifty-two years of marriage.  To this union they had five children and shared five.  He worked various jobs in Palatka – Florida Furniture (15 years), Motes Feed Store, and managed Darrell Futch Landscaping until his retirement in 2009.

Edwin enjoyed fishing, grilling, raising livestock, and spending time with his son "talking noise" while supervising him working on cars; he enjoyed going to fish at the beach with his late grandson Luther.  He loved his wife and children; he was the life of all family gatherings and loved the oldie goldie songs.  He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and joined the House of God in 2014 under the leadership of Bishop Gilbert L. Evans, Jr.

He was well known as "Roller" because of his skills in checkers and dice. He enjoyed his special friends, Juan Fells and Johnny Staten, who were like brothers to him; he was loved and will truly be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Jimmy Deleon; daughter, Delores D. Robbins; sister, Lavaugh Crosby; brother, Jerry Crosby; grandson, Luther Ward, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Joe Hayes, Shelley Cash, James Nails.

Edwin "Roller" Crosby entered the sunset of life on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, Palatka, FL.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving wife, Louvenia W. Crosby, sons, Terry (Ann) Crosby, Freddie (Annie) Deleon, Alexander (Ester) Deleon, and James Deleon, all of Palatka; daughters, Bea'Trece Deleon, Macon, GA; Toye Crosby, Diana C.
