Edwin Brown, Sr., 65, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Palatka, he was the son of Joseph and Maxine Thomas, born on Wednesday, September 7, 1955. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. Edwin retired from the City of Rockledge Public Works Department. Edwin enjoyed reading his bible, fishing, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching basketball and football. His favorite team was the Florida State Seminoles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his grandson, Ashton Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of 39 years, Muriel Brown, Palatka; son, Edwin Brown, Jr., Gainesville; daughter, Tomeka Bellamy Sailor, Palatka; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; maternal siblings, Jeffrey (Delores) Thomas, Karen Houston, Lawrence Thomas, all of Cocoa, FL; Chris Ghousaini, Crescent City; Joseph (Shelly) Thomas, Gainesville; Josie Bellamy, Palatka; Kynette Wright, Salsbury, NC; paternal siblings, Eddie L. (Jen) Rivers, Jr., Indianapolis, IN; Earline (Edward) Williams, Orange Park; Eva (Willie) Bartley, Newberry; Efrem (Sherry) Rivers, Freeport, FL; sister-in-law, Floritta (John) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks) a socially-distanced visitation will be held at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, January 16 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" and a Celebration of Life will be held at graveside 2 p.m. at Oak Hill West Cemetery, 712 S Palm Ave., Palatka. Elder Rodney T. Osbourne, Pastor, Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, is the eulogist.
