Edna Cowan Williams, 83, of Palatka, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Haven Hospice - Roberts Care Center, following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Putnam County, Edna was born on Sunday, February 2, 1930 to Isaac and Nora (Hall) Cowan. She was educated in the Putnam County School system and was a 1948 graduate of Central Academy High School. On April 25, 1953, Edna was united in Holy Matrimony to Lonza Dewitt "L.D." Williams. Edna was baptized at the early age of thirteen at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She has remained faithful to God and her church for over seventy years. During these years, Edna served in the choir and was honored to be installed and serve as a Deaconess. Edna contributed most of her life's work as an assistant in medical and dental offices. She also worked for the Putnam County School District for a few years, until she earned her daycare provider certification from the Florida Department of Children and Families. Edna cared for many of Palatka's jewels for several years. Edna was awesome in the kitchen when it came to baking sweets for her family. Like most retired and seasoned people, she enjoyed word search puzzles, and watching television events and sports. Though to most she seemed to be quiet and soft spoken, she could hold her own with a hearty conversation about the top activities and athletes in sports. For over 50 years, she was a proud member of the Jolly Twelve Social Savings Club. These spirited seniors demonstrated that becoming a senior didn't mean you had to stop living. On a monthly basis you could see them celebrating and fellowshipping at the local restaurants around town. She is preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Isaac & Nora Cowan; husband, Lonza Dewitt "L.D." Williams; son, Isaac Gary Williams;brothers, Frank Cowan, Sr. and Samuel Cowan, Sr.; sisters, Adell C.
