Edith Warren Alexander Hosley, 68, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Putnam Community Medical Center, following an extended illness. A native of Arrendondo, she was born on Tuesday, April 11, 1944 to Richard Kelly and Amy Warren and was raised by her maternal grandparents; Tom & Tina Warren. Edith graduated Valedictorian of Lincoln High School, class of 1962. In 1965, she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from Bethune Cookman College, Daytona. She was a member of various organizations including, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; Daughter Elk, Nottage Temple; and Putnam County Bicentennial Chorus. Edith was a retired, longtime Putnam County educator (28 years). She was a former member, secretary, treasure, and organist/pianist for St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She also served as musician for numerous churches in the Putnam-St. Johns County region. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in eternal rest by husband, Arvie Hosley; step-father, Clarence Debose, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Tom & Tina Warren. Those who treasure her loving memories: two daughters, Allisen Alexander; April (Kevin) L. Alexander-Williams, both of Palatka ; one brother and two sisters, Clarence Debose, Jr., Gainesville; Carrieann Debose, Clearwater; Carolyn Jones, Largo; grandchildren, Ashely Alexander, Amber Alexander, Diamond Hampton, Alexander Smith; 6 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, November 16th and The Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17th, at the "Chapel of Serenity", Reverend James McGriff, pastor of Bethel A.M.E Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
