Obituary

Eddie James Watson, Sr. 59, of Palatka, peacefully entered the sunset of life on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. A native of Lake Worth, FL., he was the son of Johnie James and Alberta (Johnson) Watson, Sr., born on Friday, October 10, 1952. Affectionately known as "Eddie J.," he was educated in the Palm Beach County School District (Lake Worth High School) At an early age he was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Lake Worth. He was formerly employed with the City of Lake Worth. In 1970, he relocated to Palatka and was previously employed in the tissue converting department at Georgia Pacific Corporation. He enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. His parents preceded him in eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Eddie Alan "Happy" Watson; Jerod Watson, Eddie James "Blue" Watson, Jr., all of Palatka; daughters, Teketa Watson, Ocala; Demeterica "Meechie" Leonard, Palatka; "like daughters," Lillian (Curtis) Wright; LaTonya Fuqua, both of Palatka; LaToya (Desmond) Dunbar, Jacksonville; T'Keara Watson, Palatka; brothers & sisters, Johnny J. Watson, III; Roberta (Robert, Sr.) Jackson, both of Lake Worth; Sylvester (Chantaye) Watson, Sr., Boynton Beach; Barbara A. Haymon, Augusta, GA; Rosevelt "Shank" (Michelle) Watson, Sr., Lake Worth; 15 grandchildren, Jakeara, Jermaine "J.J.", JaKia, Elexa, Trinity, Cierra, Brianna, Eddie III, Eddie IV, Jordan, D'Andra, Myeaia, Kaydron, Triashie, LaPatra; great- grandson, Maleak; aunts & uncles, Lillie Bell Bradshaw; Wylean (Claude) Murray, both of Palatka; Dora Patterson, Stillmore, GA; Betty (Jack) Durden, Miami; Sylvester Johnson, Palatka; Ida (George) Brazill; Bessie Gordon, both of Lake Worth; close, devoted friends, Ron Kelly, East Palatka; Frank Taylor, Palatka and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, at "The Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5th at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Reverend Stanley Moore, pastor, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Statesboro, GA., and Reverend Andrew McRae, pastor, Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, are the officiants. The cortege will assemble at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at Jenkins Middle School, 1100 North 19th Street, Palatka. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery
