Eddie Mae Thomas, 80, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Kindred Hospital of North Florida, Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. The daughter of Eddie Lee Hillman & Rosetta Bellamy Israel, she was a native of Sanford and she resided in Palatka for over 70 years, born May 10, 1930. She was an affiliate member of the Palatka House of God Church. Eddie Maes hobbies included cooking and baking.
In addition to her parents; sister, Mae Frances Murray & brother, Willie B. Edwards preceded her in eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: children, Burnetta J. Polite, Palatka, Sonya J. Givens, Jacksonville, Nelda D. Thomas, Sabrina L. Thomas, Pernell M. (Tamara) Thomas, Palatka, Lorne L. (Yvonne) Thomas, San Mateo, Asteria C. (Bruce) Oxendine, Cassius E. (Donna) Thomas, Palatka, Lenora M. Thomas, Jacksonville, Kandi S. Thomas and Dongel L. Thomas, Palatka; brother, Ulysses Hillman, Orange Park; sister, Carolyn Easton, Sanford; 26 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (Today) June 11th , at The Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of Life will be 12 noon Saturday, June 12th at the House of God Church, 723 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Dr. Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., Pastor is the Eulogist. Rev. Theodore McRae, Pastor of New Mt. Tamo Baptist Church, Pomona Park, Presiding.
Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
