Obituary

Mother Dorothy Mae "Miss Peenie" Jones, 81, of Palatka was born on January 11, 1933 in Sanford, Florida to Mary Jones and Henry "Buster" Wiggs. During her childhood years, the family moved to Palatka. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and a 1951 graduate of Central Academy High School. Subsequently relocating to Miami to pursue a nursing career for a brief period of time, she later returned to Palatka. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of The Temple of God Miracle Deliverance Center (now known as To God Be The Glory Holiness Church) under the pastoral guidance of Dr. Ruth Lowe-Reaves. She served as a church mother and was a devout Christian disciple who loved the Lord, the church, and people. Mother Jones didn't allow her physical limitations to dictate her destiny and she enjoyed calling her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Kenneth Jones and brother, Paul Jones (March 24, 2014). She transitioned from her earthly tabernacle to her eternal home not made with hands on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Putnam Community Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted and loving daughter, Johnnie Harris, Palatka; two grandsons, Glendon Terrell (Tonya) Potter, Little Rock, AR, Jonathan (Chandra) Harris, Jacksonville; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, George T. Mack, Palatka; sister-in-law, Marvis Marie Jones; cousin and best-friend, Martha "Sweet Rose" Nichols, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, caring church family, and beloved friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the "Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at To God be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Dr. Ruth G. Lowe-Reaves, Pastor Emeritus and Minister Linda G. Hall, Pastor. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery,
