Obituary

A Time to be Born

Dorothy Ann was a lifelong resident of Palatka, FL, born Wednesday, July 8, 1959 in Fitzgerald, GA to Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Lee & Nola (Perry) Williams.

A Time to Learn and Work

Dorothy Ann was a graduate of Palatka Central High School Bulldogs Class of 1977.  She attended Bethune-Cookman College and was an honor roll student.  She worked many years at Central States Diversified Company and Palatka Daily News.

A Time to Worship

Dorothy Ann was baptized at a young age. As she grew spiritually, she worshipped under the leadership of the late Pastor Ruth Lowe Reaves at To God Be The Glory Church. She followed her spiritual mother the late Effie Lee Flagg "Mother Smith" , Pastor Alonzo Mulberry at Soul Mission Church, and Rev. Dr. Herbert Johnson, Jr. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. During her time at church she served as Church Mother, Usher, Daughter of Faith and Outreach Community Involvement.

A Time to Live

Dorothy Ann loved God, her family, especially her grandchildren and the Class of 1977 Bulldogs.  She attended any events that involved the children, regardless of how she felt.  She traveled by any means necessary and always was the life of the party.

A Time to Depart for Eternal Rest

Dorothy Ann was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Jimmie Lee and Nola Williams; brothers, Jimmie C Williams, Sr. and Larry Williams; sisters, Hattie "Sugar Ma" Williams and Janice Williams; nephews, Dantonio (Tavares) Williams, Jimmie C Williams, Jr. and Donterius Fells; brother-in-law, Curley Gilmore; best friend, Roselyn Flagg-Hutchinson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey James, Sr. and Rosa Mae Byrd Hutchinson; like family, Alton and Loretta Esau, Marilyn Esau. On Easter Sunday, 5:57 pm, March 31, 2024, Dorothy Ann entered the sunset of life surrounded by her family.

Dorothy Ann leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Johnnie Hutchinson; sons, Alfredrick "Donnie" (Yolanda) Esau, Alfred Esau, Jr.; daughters, LaKenya (Olugbenga) Daramola, Kalandra (Terrance), Alzetta (Larry) Hall; 25 grandchildren, De'Abrie, Abrielle, Abrie, Keidaria, Keteria, Ja'kyria, Ra'lia, Ke'Nysia, Ke'niya, King, Marcellus Jr, Michael, Myles, Joshua, HeavenLee, Harmony, Danaysia, Jamarian, Alfredrick Jr, Jaiden, Jasmyne, Marlana, Cachet, Briana, Quantavis; 5 great grandchildren, LayLondon, Nalani, Quinlin, Quanell, Ahlan; brother, John L (Sharon) Williams; sisters, Cathy Lee, Ester Wright, Permelia (David) Green, Vernesia Gilmore and Sarah Williams; SiNiece, Keashia (Chavarro, Sr.) Thomas; dedicated niece, Kanecia (Kevin) Jones; loving nephew, Jakoree Jones; aunt, Mary "Aunt Pickle" Williams; uncle, Robert James Williams; goddaughters, Faith (Nathaniel) Perry and Sateria Ivory; god-sisters, Lalita (Timothy, Jr.) Thomas and Annette Hanna; forever family, The Esau's; special friends, Shirley, Jerelene, Jacquelyn, Frankie; "like a sister," Rossetta Esau; and The Palatka Central Class of 1977.

Visitation of family & friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 12 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Elder Alonzo Mulberry, III, Soul Mission Church of God in Christ, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
