Dorothy Jean Crowley, 63, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Sunday, January 10, 2009 at Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville following an extended illness.

A native of Forsyth, GA, she was born Thursday, October 16, 1947 to Charlie and Mary Alice Shivers. She has been a resident of Palatka for over 35 years. She was united in holy matrimony to Leroy Howard Crowley. She was a member of the Universal Holiness Church and a former member of Apostolic Faith Church of God and New Church of Christ Outreach Ministries. She enjoyed sharing her gifts to the glory of God as an accomplished singer and foster mother.

Dorothy was preceded in eternal rest by her father, Charlie Shivers, Sr., and mother, Mary Alice Shivers Wright.

She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted husband of 14 years, Leroy Howard Crowley, Palatka; Sons, Johnny Lee (Shirley), Jones, Tampa; William Bill Jones, Palatka; Daughters, Angela (Michael) Floyd, Palatka; Regina Jones, Tampa; Sisters, Pastor Doris Ann (Alfredo) Dawson, Palatka and Regina McGlockling, St Augustine; Brothers, Rev. Charlie (Catherine) Shivers, Palatka and Mathew (Karen) Wright, Palm Coast; Stepfather, Bishop Willie W.C. Wright, Palatka; Step-children, Deion Howard, Charlie, Carl E., Samuel, Mattie, Josephine, Sabrina, and Catherine Crowley, all of Palatka; Lisa Crowley, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday January 15th at The Chapel of Serenity.

A Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 16th at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1501 Bronson St, Palatka, Elder J.C. Tookes, Pastor, presiding. Her brother, Rev. Charlie Shivers, Jr., Pastor of Universal Holiness Church is the eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Oak Hill West Cemetery
