Doris Lucille Jenkins Proctor, 85, longtime resident of St. Augustine, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Community Hospice, Bailey Center for Caring. A native of Quitman, GA., she was the daughter of Joe Carl and Lucillie "Cellie" Staten Jenkins. At an early age her family relocated to St. Augustine and she was educated in the St. Johns County School District. She was united in marriage to Daniel Francis and later married Thomas Proctor. She was a former member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Picolata. She was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and Church Mother. She was a retired homemaker who enjoyed cooking, performing household chores, loving on her grandchildren, and participating in church-related activities.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Lillie Mae "Deborah" Capell; sisters Patricia, Carolyn, Diane, and Grace; brothers , Joe C., Allen, Malachi, and Virgil; 3 grandchildren, Minese, Ingunee, and Lavon.
Those who cherish her and preserve flourishing memories: 3 loving daughters, Gale Fulford (Morris), West Palm Beach; Marcie (Roger) Storey St. Augustine; Sandra (Vincent) Palmer Palatka; devoted son , Daniel Francis (Etta) Palm Bay; "Like a son," Curtis Lewis, Sr., St. Augustine; brother, Nathaniel (Lilly) Jenkins, Jacksonville; son in law , Willie Capell, Daytona Beach; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren ; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, especially her Pastor, Reverend James and Lady Wanda Sams.
