Doretha "Doe" Beauford Powell, 75, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. She was a native of East Palatka and the fifth daughter of Will and Louise Beauford (Mattear), born on Sunday, July 22, 1945. Doretha was educated in the Putnam County School District, graduating from Central Academy High School, Class of 1963. She was a former member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, East Palatka. She was a custodian for the Putnam County School District for 16 years. Doretha was also a Security Guard at Continental Building Products/ Seminole Electric Co-Op for the past 12 years. She was a lively, independent, and passionate person who always spoke the truth. She exhibited lots of love for her children, grandchildren, sisters, and brothers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her eldest daughter , Faith Powell Belton; husband , James Powell; brothers , Tommie, Curtis, Willie C., Willie James, Jerry Beauford; sisters , Murline B. West, Rutha Mae Cooper; aunts , Mable Banks, Rosa Mae Love.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughters, Sade (C.J.) Smith, Quiana (Darryl) Smith, Valorie Brown, Charmika James; son, Kymani Powell; son-in-law, C.S. Belton; sisters, Christa B. Faison, Inez Beauford, Lula Mattear, Ethel Holcy; brothers, Jesse Beauford, Issac (Flora) Beauford; grandchildren, Farrah, Candyce, Calvon, Corey, La'Shuana, Kirra, Kayden ; great-grandchildren, Christian, Amiya, Cortland, Iris, Jaden ; sisters-in-law/friends, Laura Carter; Ollie (Eddie Hill) Beauford; nieces/nephews, Helen, Carl Robin, Quita, Mico, Melise, Curtis, Cynthia, Phyllis, Shelia, Anita, Bryanna, Chris, Yassah, Bontrell, Darlene, Al, Jackie, Penny, Kenneth, Corey, Willie; special nephew/niece, Clayton Beauford, Aretha Faison; 34 great nieces/nephews; goddaughter, Katrina Williams; 24 cousins, including: Mary Howard, Johnny Dexter, Willie B., Nellie Shivers, Daisy Battles; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks), a socially-distanced Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, September 27 at Putnam County Fairgrounds, East Palatka. Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, is the eulogist.
