Mother Dora Bell Monroe Donerson, 89, longtime resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Palatka Health Care Center. The daughter of Clarence Monroe, Sr. and Eva Mae James Monroe, she was the sixth born of fifteen children. A native of Carnegie, GA, she was born on Thursday, August 23, 1928 and was educated in the Randolph GA County School District. In 1947, Dora was united in holy matrimony to James Donerson, Sr. and they became the parents of six children: Annie Eva, Ella Mae, James, Jr., Tommy, Patricia and Christina. Mother Donerson was a faithful member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the Adult Choir and Voices of Praise. Her hobbies included singing and dancing.
In addition to her parents and husband of 55 years, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Annie Eva Donerson; grandson, Quilla "BJ" Donerson; and several siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Ella Mae Whetstone, Gainesville; Patricia (Jimmy) Deering, Palatka; Christina (Curtis L.) Jones, Ocala; sons, James Donerson, Jr. Palatka; Tommy Donerson, Charlotte, NC; brother, John Monroe, Arlington, GA; sisters, Donnie Bell Mosely, Bertha King, both of Albany, GA; Rebecca Miller, Joan (Leroy) Miller, both of Arlington, GA; 20 grandchildren; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation of family and friends: 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 9 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration: 11 a.m., Saturday, February 10 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
