Obituary

Dewey Shack Williams, Jr., 67, of Pomona Park, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Estelles Hospice House, Ocala following an extended illness. He was a native of Pomona Park, born on Monday, November 8, 1943 to Dewey and Willa (Edwards) Williams. Shack was educated in the Putnam County School District (Middleton High School, Class of 1959). He previously resided in Poughkeepsie, NY. Years ago he was employed by the former Seaboard Coast Line Railroad (now CSX). He was of the Baptist faith and in his early years attended Mt Tamo Baptist Church of Pomona Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his stepfather, Alonzo Huffman; son, Dewey Williams, Jr.; sister, Florence Williams and Stepson, Terrance Davis; aunts, Essie M. Lawton, and Gertie Morgan. Those who will forever cherish his memories: two daughters; Nanette (Jerry) Mahone, Crescent City; Vernesia Williams, Pomona Park; stepson, Eric Hawkins, Lexington, KY; brothers; Amos (Leona) Williams, Defuniak Springs; Emmit (Noreen) Huffman, Weirsdale; sister; Patricia Patterson, Grady, AL; aunts and uncle, Mautie Mae Edwards, Green Cove Springs; Georgia McDonald, Pomona Park; Thelma Mills, Welaka; Ada Whitaker, Crescent City; Edna Edwards, San Mateo; Otis (Esther) McBride, Raleigh, NC; brothers and sistersin-law, Willie Lee (Mamie) Simmons, Sr., Pomona Park; Jack (Diane) Simmons, Webster; 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, June 17th at New Mt. Tamo Baptist Church, 33 S. Railroad Avenue, Pomona Park.

Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at New Mt. Tamo with the pastor, Rev. Theodore McRae, as eulogist.

Interment will be in New Mt. Tamo Cemetery.
