Desmond Daley, 82, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, he was the son of James and Amy (Francis) Daley, born on Friday, May 29, 1936. He was educated in Stoney Hill, St. Andrew, Jamaica. In 1960, he was among the immigrants invited to Great Britain who migrated to London, England as part of the "Windrush Generation" in pursuit of improved employment opportunities in the rebuilding of post-war England. For 15 years, he was employed with an engineering company, and later, as a Security Officer with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in London, for 20 years.

Desmond met the love of his life, Victoria, in Jamaica and they courted until his departure to England in 1960. His goal was to send for her, and in 1961 he was able to purchase and send her a ticket to join him and in 1962, they were united in marriage and they became the proud parents of three children.

Two years following his 1998 retirement, in 2000, the Daleys' relocated to Palm Coast, FL. He was an avid gardener, and his true pleasure was realized while tending to his lawn, flower beds and vegetables. He also loved cooking his native Jamaican cuisine, which included salt fish fritters, a family trade-mark. While living in Palm Coast, he made several trips to England to visit with his children. Shortly before his transition, Desmond gave his life to Christ, and became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Victoria Daley, Palm Coast; son, Owen Daley; daughters, Evan Daley, Audrey Daley, all of London, England; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 28, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway S, Palm Coast, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor, is the eulogist.
