Obituary

Denise Patricia Kemp-Mims, 54, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Palatka, she was born on Monday, December 5, 1960 to Leroy & Lillian Robinson Kemp. She was educated in the Putnam County School District where she earned her high school diploma and subsequently was awarded her nursing assistant certification. At an early age, she joined Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Red Circle and YWA Department. Denise was united in holy matrimony to Emmett Mims on November 1, 2008. She was employed for several years at Palatka Health Care Center. Her true passion was cooking and ministering to others about how good the Lord had been to her. Denise is now resting in eternal peace with her maternal grandparents, Leroy & Pearl Kemp; her sister, Phyllis Marie Kemp; uncle and aunt, Floyd (Mary) Kirkland. Visitation for family and friends at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, will commence at 5 p.m. Friday, February 6, with a Memorial Tribute from 6-7 p.m. Homegoing Celebration will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Host Pastor. Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Pastor of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka. The cortege will assemble at 2:20 p.m. at the Palatka High School Commons area.
