Obituary

Deborah Gail Williams Grant, 55, retired registered nurse and resident of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 2nd, 2007 at River Garden Hebrew Home following an extended illness. She was the eldest daughter of navy veteran Ralph Williams, Sr., & Delores Floyd Williams. Deborah was born Friday, October 31, 1952 in Palatka, Florida. As a military family they customarily moved from state to state. Deborah was a 1970 honor graduate of William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville. In 1975, she earned the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida A & M University, Tallahassee. Over the span of her successful nursing career, Deborah was employed at St. Lukes Hospital, Riverside Hospital, FL State Hospital, and University Hospital (SHANDS & UF), where she also became a certified nursing instructor. From her early childhood, she was a member of her familys church, St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She later joined Sweetfield Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, helping others, and shopping. Deborah is preceded her in eternal rest by her son, Archie Dean Grant II; sister, Denise Williams Mitchell; father, Elder Ralph Williams, Sr., (October 10, 2007); paternal grandparents, Walter & Mary Magdalene Williams, Sr., maternal grandparents, Eugene & Ferline Keenon. To cherish her memories: husband, Archie Dean Grant, Sr., son, Alexander D. (LaTonya) Grant; devoted mother, Delores Williams; brothers, Ralph (Wanda) Williams, Jr., Reginald Ricky (Karen) Williams; granddaughter, Alexis LaShell Grant; all of Jacksonville; aunts & uncles, Bessie (Amos) Sermon, Pauline Williams, Yvonne (Robert) Singleton, Barbara Jenkins, Brenda Jones, Cassandra Sessions, Audrey Keenon, Vernon Keenon, Lancy (Renee) Keenon, Eugene Keenon, Antonio Ellis; mother-in-law, Rosa Grant, sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family & friends will be Friday, June 6th from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at her church. Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, June 7th, 11 a.m. at Sweetfield Missionary Baptist Church, 1365 Harrison Street, Jacksonville; Rev. Dr. Richard R. Russ, pastor/eulogist. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Jacksonville.
