IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deborah A.
Evans
August 24, 1957 – October 11, 2022
Deborah Ann Evans, 65, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at her residence. The daughter of Lee Verne Johnson and Carrie Robinson, she was born on Saturday, August 24, 1957 in New Brunswick City, New Jersey. During her early childhood years, Deborah's mother passed away, and God made a way for her devoted aunt, Mary Jane Hodges, to adopt her and raise her as a daughter. She was educated in the Putnam County School District. She was a former member of Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop John McNair. On Wednesday, March 11, 1987, Deborah united in marriage to Gregory Evans, and they celebrated 35 years together. Deborah was a longtime homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her pets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her adopted mother, Mary J. Hodges; sister, Margaret Williams; brother, Timothy Johnson; special friend, Mary L. Hill-Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her memories: loving husband, Gregory V. Evans Sr.; sons & daughters, Jeremiah (Sabrina) Gilyard Sr., Chris L. Evans, Katrina Y. Sweat, Erica L. Johnson, Gregory E. Johnson; 14 grandchildren, sisters, Alice Hodges and Sylvia (Calvin) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 14; Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, October 15 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Theodore McRae, Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Federal Point, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
