Deacon Joseph Lee Williams, 80, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka following an extended illness. A native of Orlando, he was born on Wednesday, November 6, 1929 in Orlando, Florida to the Rev. John E. and Charlie Mae (Wynn) Williams. He was educated in the Orange County School District, where he graduated from Jones High School, class of 1948 in Orlando, Florida. He was united in marriage to the former Cora Spell on June 3, 1964 in Daytona Beach, FL. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church since April 1984 and served faithfully on the Deacons Ministry, Seniors Ministry, Sunday School, Bible Study and Discipleship Class. Deacon Williams really loved the Lord and he enjoyed teaching and attending Sunday School.
PFC Joseph Williams was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran (Honorably Discharged) and was previously employed at the Wesley Brothers Printers (Orlando, FL), Rollins Press (Winter Park, FL), and subsequently by the Putnam County School District at the William D. Moseley Elementary School, where he retired in 1987. Joe has resided in Palatka since 1984, moving from Orlando and previously residing in Daytona Beach.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in eternal rest by his son, Douglas E. Williams and brother, John E. Williams Jr.

Williams Palatka; Daughter: Tracy Williams Hicks Pensacola; Daughter-in-law, Yvonne Williams, Palatka; Grandchildren: Kristopher Williams, Palatka; Quentin W. Hicks, Jr., Tre Hicks, Joseph D. Hicks & Kamali Hicks, all of Tampa; Sisters-in-law, Willie Pearl Spells, Palatka; Lillie B. McNeal, Holly Springs, Mississippi; Brothers-in-law, Timothy E. (Katie) Spell Ocala, FL, John Peter (Thelma) Spell & Ernest Spell all of Palatka; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, caring friends, and devoted cousins, especially Roxie Crapps and Blonza Young - Orlando
Visitation of family & friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 15 at the Chapel of Serenity.
Homegoing Celebration will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 16 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 North 10 Street, Palatka, Rev. Frederick T. Demps, pastor, is the eulogist.
Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery
