David Morgan Sapp, age 59, of Starke, Florida, transitioned on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. David was born on August 28, 1964, to Eldon "Rudy" and Catherine Sapp. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1982 and started working at TG & Y Stores in Starke, FL. David enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1983 and served on active duty as a Jet Engine Mechanic at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. from 1983-1986 and Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA. from 1986-1988 before going on to serve as a Technical Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard (202nd Red Horse Squadron) at Camp Blanding in Starke, FL. David took pride in advancing his education and rose in the ranks from Correctional Officer (FL Department of Corrections), Police Office (Lawtey and Starke Police Department), Military Police Officer (State of Florida – Department of Military Affairs), and finally retiring from the Florida Department of Agriculture in November 2017. He deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2004 and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006-2007. In addition, he deployed numerous times on hurricane reliefs. In his retirement years, he worked part-time as a Gunsmith and was a certified Concealed Weapons Instructor. He loved making homemade "go bags", hunting, camping, spicy foods, and spending time with his friends.
David was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Eldon "Rudy" Sapp of Starke, FL.
He is survived by his mother Catherine Sapp of Starke, FL.; son, Joshua (Jennifer) Sapp and daughter Elizabeth (Matt) Hatcher both of MacClenny, FL.; sister, Rhonda (Chris) Douglas of Starke, FL.; and 4 grandchildren, Emma Ratliff, Levi Sapp, Evelyn Sapp, and Ethan Sapp all of MacClenny, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in David's honor to the Disabled American Veterans or the Military Officers Association of America. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
