David Alan McAlister, 75, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at his residence. A native of Lakeland, FL., he was the son of Allen and Mary (Barrett) McAlister, born on Saturday, July 29, 1944. David was a 1963 graduate of Santa Fe High School, High Springs. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on August 2, 1965 and while serving earned the National Defense Service Medal. SP5 McAlister was honorably discharged on August 1, 1968 and subsequently served in the Army Reserves. For many years, his career choice was Automotive Sales Representative and his hobbies included boating and gardening. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories: longtime significant other, Caroll E. King, East Palatka; step-children, Chris (Stephanie) King, Holly (Nash) Stuart; grandchildren, Gage Stuart, Kate Stuart, Green Cove Springs; brothers, Barry (Carole) McAlister, Silver City, NM; Paul (Cathy) McAlister, Jacksonville; Joe McAlister, Ocala; sisters, Mary Lou (Chris) Kyle; Patty Hughes, both of Ocala; and a host of other caring relatives and friends.
A Memorial Celebration with military honors will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 16, at Crystal Cove Marina, 131 Crystal Cove Drive, Palatka, Pastor Chris Kyle, of Grace Christian Family Church, Ocala, officiating.
