Daryl LaShay "Dirt" McCaskill, 50, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville. A native of Gainesville and son of Earl McCaskill and Bettie (Lewis) McCaskill, Daryl was born on August 19, 1971. He was a lifelong resident of Palatka and was educated in the Putnam County School District at Palatka High School. Daryl was formerly employed as a lawn service technician in St. Augustine and was presently a security guard at Lucky Pearl Café. Daryl was an avid Florida Gator fan and loved to work on three-wheel adult tricycles installing music boxes and music systems in automobiles.
In addition to his parents, Daryl was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Edward (Rosa Bell) Lewis; paternal grandparents, Johnny (Odella) McCaskill; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony (Della) McCaskill.
He leaves to cherish his memories: fiancée, Quiana Smith; sons , Daryl McCaskill, Jr., La'Darrien McCaskill; daughter, Shi'Ayna McCaskill; stepsons, Tyan McClendon, D'Andre McClendon; grandchildren, Jaedyn McCaskill, Kalani McCaskill, Sha'Nyla Summers; brothers, Carl (Bridgette) Lewis, Bernard Lewis, Tyrone McCaskill, Alvin McCaskill, sister, Tammie (Elisha, Jr.) Miller; aunts and uncles , Juanita Oliphant, George (Cora) Lewis, Larry (Cathy) Walls, Johnny McCaskill, Mattie Bell Battles, "Lady" Marion Florence; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including best friends, Sylvester Brinson, Willie "Champ" Offord.
Following CDC guidelines: Visitation of family and friends will be 3-5 p.m., Friday, November 26 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A Celebration of Daryl's Life will be 12 noon, Saturday, November 27 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 N. 10 th Street, Palatka, Reverend Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Pastor-Officiant. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
