Daryl Kristofer Kelly, 42, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Putnam Community Medical Center. The son of Joseph "Joe" and Betty (Mickens) Kelly, he was born on Saturday, February 19, 1977. He was a 1996 graduate of Palatka High School. He attended Santa Fe Community College and earned certification in Business Computer Programming.
Daryl was a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He was employed as a para-professional at E. H. Miller School. He formerly worked at the Hastings Youth Academy. Daryl married Latesha Wright on August 2, 2019. He enjoyed reading, shopping, playing video games, and watching football, especially his favorite NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles and college team, Florida State Seminoles. He truly loved his students, modern technology and computer programming.
Daryl was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Joe Kelly on October 1, 2005; and additionally, his maternal grandparents, James (Willie Mae) Mickens; paternal grandparents, James (Clyde) Kelly; aunt, Ruby Fonville; godmother, Fannie Mae Thomas.
He leaves to cherish her memories: devoted mother, Betty Mickens Kelly, Palatka; wife, Latesha Michelle Wright-Kelly, Palatka; maternal grandmother, Marian Foster Smith, Gainesville; aunts and uncles, Geraldine Wright Kelly, East Hastings; Pearline (Calvin) Wilson, Palatka; great aunts and great uncles, R.C. (Mattie) Davis, Elder Lawson (Rosa Lee) Foster, Willie Grant, all of Palatka; Eugene Foster, Lake City; godparents, Lester James, Sr., and Alice Mae Epps James; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gloriadell (Leonard) Wright), Palatka; friends/co-workers at E. H. Miller School, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends: 5-7 p.m., November 29 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration: 11 a.m., Saturday, November 30 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
