Daphnie Louise Harrison, 80, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at AdventHealth, Palm Coast. The daughter of Lewis Palmer and Mary Holiness and native of Mandeville, Jamaica, Daphnie was born on Monday, May 13, 1940. She grew up in Jamaica and moved to London at age 18, where she pursued her nursing career. At age 25, she united in holy matrimony to Keith Harrison on November 11, 1965. After many years of working in London, she was recruited by Brown's Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York in 1967. Shortly thereafter, she obtained her master's degree in nursing at Mercy College, New York. Daphnie worked at WestChester Square Hospital in Bronx, New York for 27 years until she moved to Palm Coast in 1988. She worked as a home health nurse for Flagler County (1994-1996) and as an OR nurse at Memorial Hospital Flagler (1996-2013) and Florida Hospital Flagler (2013-retirement).
Daphnie had been a parishioner of St. Thomas Episcopal Church since arriving in Palm Coast, Florida. She was a hard-working woman who cared for her family very dearly. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, cooking, and listening to her favorite music while sipping on her favorite red wine. One song she particularly loved was "What am I living for" by Millie Smalls. Among her favorite stores were Macy's and Dillard's. She also enjoyed dancing and traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Jamaica. When she was at home, she enjoyed sitting on the pool deck and dipping her feet in the water.
In addition to her parents, Daphnie was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Hyocent Palmer; brothers, Donald Palmer, Derick Palmer; daughter, Janet Harrison.
To cherish her memories: husband, Keith Harrison, son, Micheal Harrison; sisters, Olive Lewis, Milicent Hamilton, Cynthia Palmer; brother , Gerald Palmer; granddaughters , Anessa Harrison and Olivia Sanon; and other relatives and friends including : Hillary Allen, Yvonne Harrison, Toro and Theresa Roole, Gloria and Earl Singleton, Lloyd and Gail Campbell, Joan and Victoria Francis, Angela, Anthony, and Anthony Brown Jr, Mercedes and Vernal Johnson, Cindy Simpson, Josiah Vogle, Jackie Bartels, Barbara Potter, Sidney and Violet Honeyghan, Brenda Steward, Roy Harrison, Robin and Karen Harrison.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, a socially-distanced (masks required) Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 24 with visitation of family and friends one hour prior, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast. Interment will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park.
