Daniel Woods, Sr., 74, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life Friday, July 2, 2010 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine following an extended illness. Daniel was the son of Orthaniel Collins, Sr. & Alice McCray, born December 23, 1935 in Lyons, Georgia. He was educated in the Toombs County, Georgia public schools District. In the early 1960s, he moved to Palatka and has been a resident for nearly 50 years. Daniel met Blanche Williams-Wood when he first arrived in Putnam County and they were later united in holy matrimony on July 27, 1971, in Charlton County, Georgia, and they kept their vows until the Lord called Blanche home on May 18, 2009. Many family members and friends in the community affectionately called him, Mr. Dan. Daniel was a retired fabricator at Atlantic Yacht and was formerly employed at the Georgia-Pacific paper mill. He was a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in eternal rest by his son, Jock Tyrone Woods; Siblings, Maggie Knight, Doris Collins, and Orthaniel Collins, Jr.

To Cherish His Memories, sons, Daniel (Margie) Woods Jr., Palatka; Donald Ray (Cheryl) Williams, Green Cove Springs; daughters, Frances Peaches Williams, Debra (Leroy) Hunter, Catherine Williams, Mae Alice Williams all of Palatka; Alice Mae Williams, Tampa; devoted grandson, Virgil Torrance, Palatka; devoted great-grandson, Robert Green, Jr.; stepmother, Ola Mae Collins, Reidsville, GA; Brothers & Sisters, William Gary (Nadine), Augusta, GA; Orel Collins, Nelson (Robbie) Collins, Reidsville, GA; Linda (James) Lawson, Ellenwood, GA; Laverne (Lavan) Dixon, Jonesboro, GA; Michael Collins, Macon, GA; Marva Jean Salem, Gloria Jean Nicholas, Vidalia, GA; 25 Grandchildren; 37 Great Grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (Today) July 9th at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10th at Mt Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor is the eulogist.

Interment will follow in Oakhill West Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 10 a.m. Saturday at the familys residence, 1016 Olive Street, Palatka.
