Cynthia Delores Smith Speed, 63, of St. Augustine (Native of Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Jasper, Sr. and Minnie Lee (Dennard) Smith, she was born on March 8, 1960 in Palatka. She was educated in the Putnam County School District. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Orange Park, Florida. Cynthia enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family, and cooking. She was well-known for baking delicious cakes. Cynthia was formerly employed as a bus driver for Ride Solutions and a truck driver for the City of Lakeland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her siblings, Ernest Smith, Richard Smith, Jasper Smith, Jr., Hazel Williams, Brenda Hill, Ronald Pope.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Thaddeus S. Speed; daughter and sons, LaKinya Wright, Derral (Laverne) Wright, Iman Speed; grandchildren, Darshawn Jackson, Christian Wright, Nehemiah Turner, Destiny Rose, Tyrese Speed, Imani Speed, Ineziya Speed; brothers, Johnny Lee Smith, Cleveland (Janice) Smith, Harvey (Vanessa) Shelley, Albert (Rev. Willie Bell) Smith; sisters, Georgia Mae McRae; godchildren, Tiffany Betts; mother-in-law, Clarissa Speed; grand-mother-in-law, Mildred McMillian; like sisters, Beverly Greene, Barbara Holland; like an uncle, Thaddeus B. (Jackie) Speed; special friend, Loretta (Van) McCracken; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison St, Palatka. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 800 Madison St, Palatka, Rev. Tommy J. Rodgers, Pastor. Her Pastor, Rev. Eddie B. Henley, Sr., eulogist. Interment: 9 a.m., Monday, October 2, Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville.
