Curtis "Grump" Williams, 74, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at his residence. The son of Hubert Williams and Sadie Pearl Jones, he was born on Monday, August 21, 1950 in Crescent City. He was a 1968 graduate of Crescent City Jr/Sr High School. Curtis was a God-fearing man. E-3 Williams entered the U.S. Navy on July 7, 1969, including the Vietnam War, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal while assigned to the USS John F. Kennedy. He earned an honorable discharge on December 14, 1972. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, socializing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his wife of 41 years, Toni Williams; brothers, Leroy Williams, Artis Williams, Sr.; sisters, Vernetha Johnson, Anneslene Ward.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sons and daughters, Willie Davis, Curtis Williams, Jr., Edmon Gardener, Christina (Rafael) Thornton, Sidney (Keara) Williams; 5 grandchildren, Menyia Griffith, Amari'auna Williams, Jadon Thornton, Jada Thornton, Janae Thornton; brothers, Douglas Williams, Norris Williams, Eric Williams, Tony Williams; sisters, Lanie Williams, Arnetha Williams; godchildren, Caleb Williams, Noah Ransom, Endina Verde; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m.- 12 noon, with Celebration of Life commencing at 12 noon, Saturday, September 14 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Rev. Philip Hobbs, Pastor of Abundant Harvest Ministries, Crescent City, is the eulogist. Interment: 12:30 p.m., Monday, September 16 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
