Curtis George Lewis, III, 56, of Beach Park, IL, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Journey Care, Marshak Family Hospice Care Center in Glenview, IL. A native of Palatka, he was the son of Curtis George Lewis, Jr. and Rose Lyvon Seymour, born on Thursday, May 3, 1962. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and a 1980 graduate of Palatka High School. In his early years, he was baptized at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member and Deacon of Peace of God Outreach Ministry, Waukegan, IL under the leadership of Bishop Patricia Ellington-Stern. Curtis was employed as a Custodian with the Cancer Treatment Center of America. Curtis was a U.S. Navy veteran. He loved soul food and seafood, and he also enjoyed running, dancing, laughing, smiling and listening to "old skool" music. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football, basketball, baseball, and track.
In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandmother, Mary Eliza "Li" Jordan Thomas; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Ollie Mae Lewis, Sr.; brother, Ithiel Raymon "Ray" Isom; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ellington Williams;.

Williams, Jr., Beach Park, IL; Peter Armstead, Kevin Armstead, both of Los Angeles, CA; Calvin (Collette) Armstead, Twin Falls, ID; 6 god-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, January 18, at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. A Celebration of Curtis' Life with the U.S. Navy conducting military honors will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 19, at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Pastor. Rev. Theodore McRae, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Federal Point is the eulogist. Interment will be 9 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville.
