Curtis Leon Lewis, 28, of Jacksonville entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Gainesville and a longtime resident of San Mateo, moving to Jacksonville 2 years ago. Curtis is the son of Calvin McIntosh & Vickie Thomas-Nelson, born July 21, 1980. He was educated in the Putnam County School District (Palatka High School). Curtis was formerly employed as a caregiver at the OCarroll Home. He was a member of Second Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, San Mateo. Curtis is preceded in eternal rest by his grandmother, Christine Thomas; grandfather, Roosevelt Lewis Sr.; great grandparents, Deacon Willie Frank McKinnon, Sr., Jessie Mae Pinkney McKinnon., George & Callie McIntosh; and aunt, Kimberly Thomas. To cherish his memories: Loving mother, Vickie (Willie Earl) Thomas-Nelson, Palatka; father, Deacon Calvin Leon (Raneen) McIntosh, East Palatka; 6 sisters, Latoria Lewis, Tyeisha Lewis, Latangy Mack, Doretha Mack, Valerie Mack, all of Palatka, Jasmine McIntosh, East Palatka; brothers, Jerry Mack, Calvin Lewis Jr., Palatka, Deon McIntosh, Stephon McIntosh, East Palatka; grandmother, Mattie Ruth Lewis, Palatka; grandfather, Charlie Thomas, San Mateo; great grandmother, Mary McKinnon, San Mateo; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation of friends and family will be Saturday, 5-8 p.m. at The Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 25th, at Second Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 201 N. Boundary Rd., San Mateo, Rev. Wayne Williams, Pastor, presiding. Moderator James E. Vickers, pastor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church is the eulogist. Interment will be at Old San Mateo Cemetery.
