Curley D. Gilmore, 60, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville. The son of Jimmy Lee Gilmore, Sr. and Jerry Dean (McCaskill) Gilmore, Curley was born on July 9, 1961 in Tallahassee. He was educated in the Leon County School District and a 1979 graduate of Amos P. Godby High School. Curley was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was a masonry craftsman for Jim Gilmore Masonry. Curley enjoyed grilling, entertaining family and friends, and was an avid Florida State University football and basketball fan.
Curley was preceded in eternal rest by his uncle, Jimmy McCaskill; parents-in-law, Jimmy Lee and Nola Williams; brother-in-law, Jimmie C Williams, sisters-in-law, Hattie Mae Williams and Janice Williams; nephews, Dantonio Tavares Williams, Jimmie C Williams, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife , Vernesia Williams Gilmore; mother , Jerry Dean Gilmore; father , Jimmy "Jim" (Naterline) Gilmore, Sr.; son , Shaun (Ebony) Gilmore; daughters , Keyonda (Doreshia) Gilmore, Montorria (Yvette) Harris; "raised as children," DeAbrie Smith, Jakyria Humphries, HeavenLee Thomas; granddaughters, Shanasia Gilmore, Kamiya Gilmore; brothers , Jimmy (Catrecia) Gilmore, Jr., Reginald Gilmore, Maurice A. Gilmore, Cedrick Gilmore, Sr., Jamie (Rometha) Gilmore, Sr., Michael Gilmore; sisters , Gail Wilson , Cassandra Gant; uncles , Bobby (Lillian) Hardee, Col. Horace McCaskill, Bishop James (Lanell) McCaskill, Nathaniel (Phyllis) McCaskill, Robert James Williams, Marshall Sheffield; aunts , Dolly Jean Stevens, Tonsiaweda (Sandford) Hayes, Gail Hunter, Delores Purdy, Mary Williams; brothers-in-law , John L (Sharon) Williams, Michael(Lisa) Gilliam, Sr.; sisters-in-law , Dorothy Esau, Cathy Lee, Ester Wright, Permelia (David) Green, Sarah Williams, Keashia (Chavarro) Thomas; godchildren , Kegan Hill, Nigel Golden, Darious Dasher, Bre'yana Wellon; god-sisters, Lalita (Timothy) Thomas, Annette Hannah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 27 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Serenity Chapel. Celebration of Curley's Life will be 12 noon, Thursday, April 28, at Calvary MBC Family Life Center, 1414 Bronson Street, Palatka. Reverend Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
