Obituary

Cornell Nell Lewis Smith, 65, of Crescent City entered the sunset of life on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

She was a native of Darlington County, SC., born Wednesday, April 12, 1944 to Cecil Clemons and Katie Mae Bush. At an early age Cornell moved to Crescent City to be raised by her maternal grandparents, Luvenia and Oscar Lewis and has resided there all of her successive years. She was educated in the Putnam County School District (Middleton High School, Crescent City). She accepted Christ at an early and was a former member of Church of God By Faith. She later united with Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served on the hospitality ministry. She was formerly employed as a community outreach worker at the Crescent City Clinic and later Sparton Electronics in DeLeon Springs as a production specialist. Nell enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, shopping, lending an ear to the needy and she loved sharing with others.

Nell was preceded in eternal rest by her Mother, Katie Mae Bush; Husband, William H. Smith; Maternal Grandparents, Luvenia and Oscar Lewis, Paternal Grandparents, Lila and Will Clemons.

She leaves a loving legacy of six daughters, Shancerrae L. Shan Jordan, Ormond Beach; Juneasa (Ronald) Jordan-Bueno, Snellville, GA; Sophia Jordan, Crescent City; Cassandra Jordan, Ormond Beach; Bridgett Mitchell, Houston, TX., Angela Adams, Lithonia, GA; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jary Dean Hardy and Dollie Dean Bush, both of Crescent City; brother, Joe Bush, Crescent City; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City. The cortege will assemble at the Smiths residence, 1006 Fullwood Avenue, Crescent City

Homegoing Celebration will be 3 p.m. Saturday, January 30 at True Foundation Ministries, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, Pastor Gwen George. Nells pastor, Elder H. Harry Banks, of Johnson Temple COGIC is the Eulogist.

Interment will be in Eden Cemetery.
