Obituary

Constance "Margaret" McRae, 76, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Palatka, she was the daughter of Deacon Tony Sheppard and Mrs. Helen Colson Sheppard, born on Thursday, June 29, 1944. "Margaret" was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. She was employed as a Nursing Assistant and food service assistant for over 50 years. She was a dedicated community volunteer, who loved helping others – especially providing transportation and housekeeping services. In her youthful years, she was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and as an adult, she was a member of the Palatka Church of God by Faith. "Margaret" enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her great-grandson, Pharaoh McRae; sisters, Rosa Lee Smart, Cicely Hunter, Linda Bowens, Shirley Canty Hendrith.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sons and daughter , George E. McRae, Jr, Theodore (Venus) McRae, Kenneth McRae, Cheral McRae, Kelvin (Christine) McRae; "like a daughter," (niece) Twila (Clayton) Boyd; 15 grandchildren, Clayton McRae, Kiesha McRae Parkinson, George McRae, III, William McRae, Kenneth McRae, Kalvin McRae, Brandon McRae, Billy-Jessie Simpson, Timeisha Apple White, Artanza McRae, Monquie McRae, Christopher Williams, Kari McRae, DeShawn Aziron, Keyon McRae; sister, Sadie Thompson; godchildren , Syntorizia Sherall Canada, Thomas (Musu) Bolling; god-brother , Jerry Bell; dearest longtime friends , Lula Jones, Thelma Whitlock, Jeanette McGriff; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks) a socially-distanced visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 9 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" and Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 10 at the Serenity Memorial Pavilion, 2310 Reid Street.  Her son, Reverend Theodore McRae, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Federal Point, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery, Palatka.
