Clifford Young, 66, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Putnam Community Medical Center. The son of Willie Young and Lila Mae Sykes, he was born on Saturday, December 25, 1948. He attended Central Academy High School and subsequently enrolled in the Job Corps. Clifford completed U.S. Air Force basic training before returning home. He was a 30-year heavy equipment operator employed by the former Statewide Paving Company. He was united in marriage to the former Rosa Lee Jackson. He enjoyed raising livestock, fishing, playing cards, hosting cookouts and sponsoring family reunions. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Rosa Lee Jackson Young, Interlachen; children, Sharon (Dennis) Barlow, Pomona Park; Samantha Young, Lakeland; Fredrick Lee Young, Palatka; sisters, Lorine Coger, Gloversville, NY; Lilliar Farmer, Georgia M. Brown, and Dorothy Jenkins Monts, all of Jacksonville; brothers, Sidney Bellamy, Orange Park; Kenneth (Pat) Jenkins, Bunnell; Leroy (Diane) Jenkins, NJ; 8 grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Emma Moore, Freda Cobb, Darlene (Henry) McDuffy, Geraldine Staten, Willie Cobb, Retha ("L.C.") Level, Dewayne Cobb; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 28 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 12 noon Saturday, August 29, at First African Baptist Church, 431 N, Palmetto, St., Green Cove Springs, Reverend Clarence Jenkins, Pastor. Elder Elijah J. Harris, assistant Pastor, St. James Church of God in Christ, Green Cove Springs, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
