Clifford James Washington, 66, of St. Augustine, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Community Hospice Bailey Center for Caring, St. Augustine. The son of Isaac and Julia (Smith) Washington, he was a native of Roba, AL, born on Tuesday, September 11, 1951. After relocating to Florida, he was educated in the St. Johns County School District. Clifford was a retired maintenance man, employed by Florida School for the Deaf & Blind and the Florida East Coast Railroad for many years. Clifford was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, St. Augustine. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in eternal rest by his two brothers, George and Johnny Lee Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters and sons, Carol (Tony) Whitty, Jermaine Washington, Ronnie (Nakita) Burch, all of St. Augustine, Stephanie (Scott) Dean, Jacksonville, John Burch, Peoria, AZ; sisters and brothers, Ella M. Sparrow, Carrie (Willie) Sparrow, Isaac (Mary) Washington, Julia Washington, all of St. Augustine; Lula M. Daniel, Tuskegee, AL; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 6 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 222 Riberia Street, St. Augustine, Pastor Sidney Hardy, Sr., (eulogist). Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 280 Duval St., St Augustine, Pastor Richard A. Madison, Sr. (presiding). Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Augustine.
