Claudette Juanita Brown Hunter, the daughter of James "Doc" and Agnes Richards Brown, was born on Tuesday, April 12, 1938 in Palatka. She was educated in the Putnam County School District; she graduated from Central Academy High School, Class of 1957. She was employed at the Arlington House, as well as a Grandparent at Browning Pearce and James A. Long Elementary Schools, respectively. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. On October 25, 2009, Mother Claudette became a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka. She joyfully served in the Senior Choir, Seniors Ministry and on the Mother's Board. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, cooking and eating out.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Eugene Hunter; daughter, Rhonda Clark; brother, Dea. Stanley J. Brown, Sr; sons-in-law, Theodore Brinkley and Jasper Smith, Sr.
Claudette entered the sunset of life on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at her Orange Mills (East Palatka) residence surrounded by her caring family.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons; Terrance (Lerna) Williams, Philippines; Angela Dillard, Interlachen; Stynia (Reginald) Manning, East Palatka; James Hunter, East Palatka; Kimberly Hunter, Gainesville; Stanley Hunter, Sr., East Palatka; special friend, Frank Clark, Sr., East Palatka; "like a son" Christopher (Carolyn) Simmons, Jacksonville; son-in-law, Willie Clark, Orlando; sister-in-law, Patricia Goss Brown, Palatka; goddaughter, Cynthia Calloway, Palatka; god-sisters, Carolyn Scott, Gainesville; Christine Bolden, Palatka; god-brother, Leslie Johnson, Jacksonville; 25 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, June 2; Homegoing Celebration will be 12 noon, Saturday, June 3 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor & Eulogist.
