Claude William "C.W." Johnson, 57, of St. Augustine entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Roberts Hospice Care Center of Palatka following an extended illness. "C.W." - the son of Andrew and Louise Johnson, Sr., was born on Thursday, December 31, 1953 in Elwood, Florida. He was educated in the St. Johns County School District (R. J. Murray High School, Class of 1971) C.W. was a marine mechanic employed by LUHRS (formerly DESCO marine) and subsequently as a pipe-layer at V. J. Usina Contracting, Inc., of St. Augustine, retiring in 2005. He was a faithful member of New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, serving as Choir President and Kitchen Committee Chairman. C.W. was affiliated with S.D.W. Smith, Ancient City, Mt. Horeb #20, F. & A. M. of St. Augustine. He was an all-around handyman, service man and an avid mechanic who enjoyed performing taxi service to assist the needy and especially the elderly. C.W. loved fishing, football and being the master chef at family gatherings with his specialized Bar-B-Que & deep fryed turkeys. He leaves to cherish his memories; beloved wife of 8 years, Elaine Ms. Freddie Johnson, St. Augustine; devoted parents, Andrew & Louise Johnson, Sr., St. Augustine; daughters, Anita Johnson, Jacksonville, LaKeshia (Juvon) Campbell, Virginia Beach, VA; LaTwanda Johnson, St. Augustine; sisters, Lorraine (Randall) Shaw; Mary Ford, Debra Shaw; Annie Shaw, Lynette Clayton; brothers, Andrew (Eartha) Johnson, Jr., Ronald Johnson, all of St. Augustine; David (Faye) Johnson, Palm Bay, FL; step-children, Eboni (Robert Jr.) Holliman; Raymond (Tanga) Harris; Sheila (Asrial) Jenkins; El-Roi (Ashley) Ashley, all of St. Augustine; 8 step-grandchildren; a host of other relatives, classmates and caring friends. Visitation of Family and Friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 2 at New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 7211 C.R. 208, St. Augustine, Reverend Allan C. Pennill, Sr., Pastor. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Mill Creek Elementary School, 3750 International Golf Parkway, St. Augustine, Pastor Tonnette Williams, Mt. Olive United Holy Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Craig Memorial Park, 2600 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine.
