Clarkie Edward "Chuckie" Medlock, 70, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Haven Hospice, Roberts Care Center, Palatka. A native of East Palatka, he was the son of Maurice George Medlock and Juanita Hills, born on Monday, April 24, 1950. "Chuckie" was a 1968 graduate of Central Academy High School. SP4 Medlock served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service medal during his Vietnam era service. In 2018, he joined Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. He enjoyed meeting friends at McDonalds, and his hobbies included sightseeing, shopping, and eating.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his grandparents, Blanche Barnes, Mabel (Jettie) Hills; son, Kearfer KeShawn Medlock; granddaughter, JaKailah Kenyetta Jackson (October 19, 2020); sisters, Candice K. Belser, Janice Medlock Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sons and daughters, John (Meshanda) Medlock, Cordova, TN; Tabatha Kaymore, Riverdale, GA; Natona (Wayne) Whipple, Palatka; LaRhonda (Benjamin) Harris, Ocala; LaMontra Medlock, Augusta, GA; Reshad (Kenyatta) Medlock, Palatka; Nakeasha Brown, Tykeondra Medlock, Augusta, GA; Jacob Medlock, Tallahassee; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Bobbie Jean) Baker, Palatka; Rickey J. (Nikole) Medlock, Middleburg; Cedric Walker, Randy Hills, both of East Palatka; sisters, Patricia (Kelvin) Varnes, Earnestine Peggy Green, Shirley Jean (Danny) Crooms, LaJune (Minister Alfred) Esau, Tara (Leon) Crosland, aunts & uncles, Verda Medlock, Helen Brown, Eddie (Evelyn) Hills, Katherine Hills; devoted cousin, Johnny Medlock; special friend, Sabrina Hardy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In full compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, a limited, socially-distanced (masks required) visitation of family and friends will be from 4-6 p.m., on Friday, October 30 at Mt. Tabor. A Life Celebration with the U.S. Army Conducting military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 31 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor, is the eulogist. Friends are invited to join the family virtually via Facebook live: Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. A private interment will be on Tuesday, November 3 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
