Obituary

Clarence James Pop Myers, 64, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka, following an extended illness. He was a native of Crescent City, born on Sunday, June 16, 1946 to James Myers and Ella Mae Freeman. During infancy, Clarences father entered eternal rest and he was subsequently blessed with a new father, Joe Mitchell, Jr., who he knew and loved as his very own father. Pop was a graduate of Crescent Citys Middleton High School, Class of 1965. He attended Walkers Chapel Church of God by Faith along with his parents. In the late 1960s, he was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Annie Lee Davis and they became the parents of two children, Carrie & Clarence. He worked all of his adult life and was employed as a laborer by Bills Fernery, until declining health led to involuntary retirement. Pop loved to be around his family and friends. Pop usually had a quiet, gentle demeanor and his personality was extraordinary and unpredictable. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, James Myers, Deacon Joe and Ella Mae (Freeman) Mitchell, Jr., sister and brother-in-law, Annie L. Puggy and Joseph Browning, Sr.; maternal aunts, Eva F. Jackson, Ethel F. Nichols, Violet F. Padgett, Alberta F. Williams; and maternal uncles, Rayford Punch Freeman, Rufus Freeman, Eddie Freeman and Lewis Freeman.
